About Hearthstone
Who is welcome at Hearthstone?
Everyone. Whatever your age, background, family or questions, you are welcome here, and you are welcome to belong here.
What kind of church is Hearthstone?
Hearthstone is a community church founded in 1962. We follow Jesus, read the Bible together, celebrate baptism and communion, and try to love our neighbors in Alder Bay and beyond. People come to us from many church backgrounds, and from none.
Do I have to become a member?
No. You can worship, join a group and serve without becoming a member. When you’re ready to make Hearthstone your church home, the Join the Church class explains what membership means.
How do I stay up to date on events?
Sign up for the weekly email at the bottom of any page, check the events calendar, or follow us on social media.
How often do small groups meet?
Most groups meet weekly or every other week, for about ninety minutes. Each group page lists its own schedule.
Care and Support
How do I share a prayer request?
Use the prayer request form, write it on a connection card on Sunday, or call the church office. Every request is prayed for by our Prayer Team that week, and stays with the team and the pastors unless you ask us to share it.
Giving
Can I give stock or other assets?
Yes. Contact the church office for transfer instructions, and let us know the gift is coming so we can thank you and send a receipt.
How do I change a recurring gift?
Sign in to the giving page to change the amount, date or card for a recurring gift, or call the church office and we’ll help.
Kids and Families
Do I need to register my child before Sunday?
No. On your first visit, stop by the Kids Welcome Desk ten minutes early and we’ll register your child on the spot. It takes about two minutes.
Do you offer support for children with special needs?
Yes. Let us know what helps your child thrive and we’ll arrange a buddy, a quieter space or whatever else we can. Contact our Director of Children’s Ministry before your visit.
What ages does Hearthstone Kids serve?
Sunday Kids welcomes children from six weeks old through 5th grade. Students in 6th grade and up join Ember Youth.
Little Lanterns Preschool
Do you offer a weekday preschool?
Yes. Little Lanterns Preschool offers play-based morning classes for children from two years old through pre-kindergarten, plus Parents’ Morning Out on Fridays.
Missions
How do I get involved in missions?
Start with a Saturday morning at the food pantry, or browse our local partners. Our Director of Missions and Outreach is glad to help you find a fit.
Volunteer
How can I volunteer with kids or youth?
Every adult who serves with children or students completes a background check and a short training. Browse the volunteer roles, or contact our Pastor of Families to talk about where you’d fit.
Worship
What should I expect in worship?
Services last about an hour. The 9:00 a.m. traditional service has hymns, a choir and an organ; the 10:30 a.m. contemporary service has a band and a more relaxed feel. Both include scripture, a sermon and prayer. Wear whatever is comfortable.
Youth
Do parents stay during youth group?
No, but you’re always welcome to come in and say hello. Youth group runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and every adult leader has been background-checked and trained.
