These are the commitments the church council of Hearthstone Community Church adopted to describe how we welcome people. They are short on purpose. We would rather be known by how we live them than by how well they are written.
Everyone is welcome here
We believe every person is made in the image of God and is of sacred worth. You are welcome at Hearthstone whatever your age, background, ability, family, faith or doubt. You are welcome to worship, to serve, to lead and to belong.
What we promise
- To make room at the table: in worship, in leadership and in every ministry.
- To listen first, especially to people whose experience is different from our own.
- To keep learning, and to say so plainly when we get it wrong.
- To make our buildings, our services and this website usable by everyone.
- To work with our neighbors in Alder Bay for a town where everyone can thrive.
How we keep ourselves honest
A small team of members reviews these commitments every year and reports to the congregation on what has changed. If something here does not match what you experienced at Hearthstone, we want to hear it: write to hello at hearthstone dot example or talk to any of our pastors.
